## Role context

Comfy is hiring finance hire #1 to build the analytical backbone for a fast-growing, compute-heavy AI business. The company cites 4 million users, a scaling cloud business, and a recent $30M raise. The role is hands-on and builder-oriented: create models and planning processes from a blank page, work directly with data, and turn analysis into decisions founders use.

## What the role owns

- Build the company's three-statement model, budget, and forecast from scratch as a decision-making source of truth.
- Run budgeting, forecasting, and the planning cadence end-to-end; track actuals against plan, explain variances, and recommend action.
- Analyze cost-to-serve, GPU and inference COGS, gross margin, retention, and expansion for a usage-based AI business.
- Pull data directly, build KPI dashboards, and turn messy inputs into clean insight.
- Model pricing, hiring, compute-spend, and new-bet scenarios before commitments are made.
- Support fundraising and board materials with key metrics and analysis.
- Partner with GTM and Product on pricing, packaging, and monetization.
- Track cash and runway and manage outsourced accounting and payroll partners.

## Candidate profile

- 6+ years across strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or high-growth startup finance, with hands-on ownership.
- Exceptional financial modeling, including clean three-statement models and fast back-of-envelope analysis.
- Data fluency; SQL or BI experience is a strong plus.
- Understanding of usage-based or consumption models and COGS-heavy economics; AI, infrastructure, or compute experience is a bonus.
- Scrappy, self-directed 0-to-1 builder with high agency, low ego, and end-to-end ownership.
- San Francisco based or willing to relocate.

## Bonus signals

- Open-source, developer-tools, or creator-tools company experience.
- Fundraise experience behind the model and metrics.
- Experience standing up FP&A or strategic finance from scratch.
- Comfy or AI creative-tool familiarity.

## Tailoring notes

- **Must-have keywords:** strategic finance, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, planning cadence, actuals vs. forecast, variance analysis, three-statement modeling, unit economics, usage-based pricing, cost-to-serve, COGS, gross margin, compute, SQL, BI, KPI dashboards, scenario modeling, pricing, hiring, board, fundraising.
- **Implied daily work:** build planning infrastructure, analyze compute economics, maintain recurring forecast and variance cadence, self-serve data, model big decisions, and translate findings for founders and cross-functional partners.
- **ATS risks:** no direct claim of company-wide three-statement model ownership; no evidence of cash/runway ownership, outsourced accounting/payroll management, or ComfyUI usage; location/relocation preference is not stated on the resume.
- **Narrative angle:** hands-on strategic-finance builder for consumption-priced AI and infrastructure economics, with decision models, recurring FP&A cadence, self-service data tooling, board/fundraise support, and 0-to-1 systems work.
- **Bullets to prioritize:** Epic usage-based pricing and ~$25M downside risk; ~$20M GCP capacity scenario; live usage-and-cost view; actuals-vs-forecast cadence; finance data pipeline and self-service workflows; ShareChat forecast accuracy, $255M Series G, and 50-to-200-rep hiring scenario; PASS+ pricing; Rainshine unit economics and Python source of truth.
- **Truth guardrails:** three-statement modeling appears only as a grounded skill. Do not claim cash/runway ownership, payroll/vendor or outsourced-accounting management, direct company-wide three-statement model ownership, or ComfyUI use.
