# Cold Outreach Notes - Ramp & Basis (2026-06-06)

Short, offbeat cold messages (LinkedIn-DM / email length). Each leads with the single sharpest hook for that reader: the rare-overlap claim, then evidence, then a light ask. Swap in the common-ground openers when you know the recipient's background (Kellogg alum, fellow CA, ex-Grant Thornton).

**Levers (in priority order per role):**
- Basis (accounting roles): Chartered Accountant + Grant Thornton (PCAOB audit) + currently building AI agents for finance. Lead with the overlap.
- Ramp AI Ops: "I am the four-part person your JD describes" + I build agentic tooling for fun.
- Ramp Strategic Finance: operator who owns the models AND builds the tooling; CA + Kellogg as credential backup.
- Common ground (any role): Kellogg MBA; CA; ex-Grant Thornton.

## Basis - Member of Accounting Staff

**Primary (to hiring manager / team member):**
> Most people who can build LLM agents can't read a cash-flow statement. Most Chartered Accountants who can have never shipped a prompt. I'm the overlap - CA, end-to-end PCAOB audits at Grant Thornton, and these days I spend my time turning Epic's finance close/forecast workflows into Claude Code agents with verification loops baked in. Your JD asks for an accountant who's thought hard about what the work becomes in a few years. I've been building that future, not just thinking about it - would love 15 minutes.

**If reaching a fellow CA / ex-Grant Thornton person:**
> Fellow CA here (and ex-Grant Thornton audit) - which is exactly why Basis stopped me in my tracks. I left the ledger for an MBA and now build AI agents for a finance org at Epic. An agent that does real, long-horizon accounting work is the most interesting thing I've seen aimed at our craft. I'd love to compare notes on where you think it breaks - and where it doesn't.

## Basis - Deployed Intelligence, Strategist

**Primary:**
> Deploying intelligence into accounting firms needs someone who can run the room and read the ledger. I've done both: rolled Salesforce out to ~400 reps (99% adoption in 3 months, all the trainings) and onboarded 20+ non-technical finance users onto Claude Code at Epic - and I'm a Chartered Accountant, so I speak accountant without a translator. The forward-deployed pattern you're describing is the exact work I gravitate to. Worth a conversation?

**Shorter variant:**
> You need a forward-deployed person who can both train a room of accountants and translate their work into agent workflows. I'm a CA (ex-Grant Thornton) who's spent the last year deploying AI agents into a finance org - 20+ users onboarded, workflows rebuilt. Happy to walk you through how I'd run a Basis deployment.

## Ramp - AI Operations Specialist | Agentic Workflows

**Primary:**
> Your CPO's "get AI-pilled" playbook reads like my job description. At Epic I stood up finance's first agentic operating layer - 20+ non-technical users on Claude Code, a shared library of reusable skills (your Dojo, smaller), and SSO deployment rails that turn finance prototypes into governed tools. "Part vibe coder, part data expert, part PM, part ops maven" is a weirdly precise description of me; I also build agentic tooling on nights and weekends. Let's talk?

**Shorter variant:**
> The four-part person your JD describes - vibe coder / data expert / PM / ops maven - is a weirdly exact description of what I already do. I built finance's first agentic operating layer at Epic (Claude Code enablement, a shared skill library, SSO deploy rails). I'd love to do it at Ramp's scale.

## Ramp - Senior Associate, Strategic Finance

**Primary:**
> Ramp says everyone's a builder - but most strategic-finance candidates can model and can't build. I do both: I own Epic's AI-creator-tools unit-economics + forecasting models and I rebuilt the finance org's recurring workflows on AI agents. CA + Kellogg MBA if credentials matter, but the operator-who-ships part is the point. I'd love to bring that to your Strategic Finance team.

## Common-ground openers (snap onto any note above)

- **Kellogg alum:** "Saw we're both Kellogg - go 'Cats. The reason I'm reaching out..."
- **Fellow CA:** "Fellow Chartered Accountant here, which is exactly why [company] caught my eye..."
- **Ex-Grant Thornton:** "We overlapped in spirit if not in time - I did my audit articleship at Grant Thornton..."
- **Referral hook (if you can't find a warm path):** "I know cold notes are easy to ignore, so I'll be concrete:" then one sentence of pure evidence.
