# The Bear Case (strongest argument AGAINST opening the MCP)

The bull thesis assumes gravity sits at the runtime and the authoring layer is free to give away. Each bear case attacks that assumption. Ranked most-to-least dangerous below.

## Bear Case 1 — Engine-Agnostic MCP Commoditizes the Runtime [STRONG]

The danger is not Epic's MCP — it is the *category*. Once an authoring/agent layer compiles intent to UE **or** Unity **or** Godot, the engine becomes a swappable backend and value capture migrates to whoever owns the intent layer.
